No, not the people who take your off-track bets. I know we've got a fair number of avid readers out there, I just thought people might want to discuss their latest literary conquests!
I just finished reading Stalking the Vampire, the newly-released second book from Mike Resnick about Detective John Justin Mallory. I'd definately suggest reading the first book, Stalking the Unicorn, but its certainly not required to enjoy this book.
I think the character most people here will find intresting is Felina, a real cat-girl, and more specifically, Mallory's office cat. If I didn't know better, I'd swear up and down that Resnick was lurking on this site getting info on how cat-girls should act, but the first book came out in 1987 and she was spot-on back then.
Its fun, light-hearted and damned entertaining. Plenty of puns for those who like that sort of thing, but not so blatently obviopus that you're smacking yourself in the forehead and saying "D'oh!"
I've been reading Terry Brooks the Shanara series. Currently working my way through The First King of Shanara, the prequel to the series, and I'm loving it. I'm a huge fantasy/adventure fan =^.^= I might just check out the books you mentioned Sui Juris Cattus, I think I'll be in need of something a lot more humorous after this book!

I would definitely recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I can't remember the name of the first book of the top of my head but its a series about vampire warriors with a lot of diverse and very well done sex scenes. Its written by... J.R. Ward.
Princess Bride Dragonriders of Pern (by Anne McCaffrey) Vampire Chronicles (by Anne Rice) Betty the vampire queen (by Mary Janice Davidson) Rachel Morgan novels (by Kim Harrison) Ramses the Damned (by Anne Rice) The Black Jewels Trilogy (by Anne Bishop) The Black Dagger Brotherhood (by J.R. Ward) Kitty the warewolf series (by Carrie Vaughn) A Song of Ice & Fire (by George R.R. Martin) Stephanie Plum (by Janet Evanovich) ect ect
(yes, I'm a bookworm)

I'm actually rereading a book series by my fav author called Pillars of the World by Ann Bishop.... It's a good series for fantasy and it's wiccan related so if you're into that, it's good for that too. Her other series, the dark jewel trilogy, is pretty fun too, all about submissive males ruled by woman hehe. I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to, so I thought I'd try and reread books to get me in reading-mode :D

I misread the thread. I thought what was asked is "what are your favourite books?" My apologies

Ok, just finished the novelization of the upcoming Clone Wars cartoon... its going to be a great movie if its anything like the book (which it should be...) Now I just have to pick what's next:
Mind Hacks - making your brain work better
Shibari: A guide to Japanese rope bondage and erotic macrome - self explanitory
Jun Fan/Jeet June Do Scientific Streetfighting - again, self explanitory, however I know the author is a moron, but may still have some good ideas.
I would love to get the collector's edition for Beetle and the Bard, but I'm so broke it isn't funny, so I'll probably just have to settle for the regular copy.
just about to start reading the half-blood prince again, total harry potter nerd here, waited at midnight for the last book then drove home and started reading straight away - it was finished within 12 hours :P

I had the last one overnighted to me, and was soo excited when it came. I shut off the phone and internet and Master and me traded back and fourth every hour all weekend long until we were done. (Neither one of us wanted to give it up for very long.)
I'm not much of a speed reader though, I couldn't have enjoyed it if I read it in 12 hours. ;)

!!! Loves the Harry Potter.... I waited for 3 hours at this Borders event just so I could get a good spot in line to get my reserved copy of Half Blood Prince lol. I had alotta fun though and saw people I knew there who I'd never suspect would read such a thing :P. I dressed up as a witch too hehe and brought my stuffed rat and owl.... They were passed around alot and I almost lost them a few times! But after all the hustle and bustle I never did finish the book.... It was dragging on too much and I got bored after a certain amount of time and started reading this cute book about midevil mice and got distracted and then my mom stole it from me and then lost it. I suppose I should buy another copy.... considering the rats chewed the cover alot too lol. Oops I'm ranting again!

Glad to hear I'm not the only Harry Potter fan here. After reading the books I got them on CD and listen to them periodically. If you have the extra cash and like the books I recommend the CDs. The narrator does a great job using different voices for each character.

Yeah, actually.. Master plays these for us at night when we are sleeping. It helps me get to sleep.
