*Quirks a brow* I tried starting it as well a few months back, but my compy didn't like it either. >w< I find that strange...seeing as though...my compy has been allowing me to play a bunch of other games...even after that. u~u;
I had problems with the graphics at first, but to fix that I went to Edit-Prefreinces and turned the graphis from low to ultra and then back down to med.
This fixed the graphics for me.
My toons name is Bestia Fhang.
What is your toons name MissA?
Do your recomend any groups? I saw one called Womanimals that looked interesting.
I was addicted to it last year but thanks to SecondLife I discovered BDSM, realized what was "wrong" with me (mainly I was a sub & didn't know it until then) & started exploring BDSM & my sub nature.
I met many interesting people (both kink & nilla) and had two Doms, the second one of which was a great man but died in a car accident. I know He's in a better place and I'd like to think He's watching over me sometimes from Above
Anyway I don't actually use SL anymore because I'm too busy staying in contact with Master anyway I can.
And yes, SL is where I started using this nick "Tygra Beaumont"

I love second life, but I never seem to be able to get into it, I will spend a few hours looking around but never find anything that grips me. What should I do?
You know i'm pretty much the same, i'll play but for short periods of time, although in the past I have been able to play for much longer, the key to finding something that can grip you is usually in finding a good fun group of people to hang out with.
I just started an account so i could check it out, but mainly i'm really into world of warcraft at the moment lol I dont know many girls that are into it however, never mind. maybe see you on second life :)x
There are finite games and there are infinite games. A finite game is played for the purpose of winning, an infinite game for the purpose of continuing the play. -James P Carse

I designed my SL avatar based on my real self then it sorta got a life of its own and became neko. That's when I started to envision sub+neko= kitten play And here I am in Kittenplay!

"Finite players play within boundaries; infinite players play with boundaries." --James P Carse
Linden labs runs and controls second life, -setting boundaries- doesn't this suggest that second life is a finite game, with a long lifespan?
They no longer try to control anything, as it's now open source for anyone to use/manipulate. It's also well known that they are also totally royalty free. In fact one of their policys were that they never wanted to run it, simply create a space for others to use and maniuplate as their own, hence why they even offer consulting services.

So you could say the second life is almost like a media based wikipedia? If anyone can edit it, doesnt it stop being a game, and more of a tool? I assume it depends on the wafer thin line between an infinite game, and a virtual tool..
I am so glad I joined this forum, just because I can sit and think about things like this, that I would not normally on a boring sunday evening, thank you
Well after poking around in it for a few hours I will have to agree with those who say its not a game. So far from what I've seen its a fancy chat program.
When playing Everquest I often thought that a virtual world chat program would be nice since sometimes people just logged onto the game to talk. I just didnt know there was such a thing already out there.
I might be missing something. If I run into any of you while online maybe you can give me a tour and show me what I'm missing.
SL is a "fancy" chat program with lots of add-ons (sex & BDSM being the major subject on it). Also I always thought SL is kinda like "Google": you'll find tons of stuff and looking for something specific is like searching for the proverbial "needle in the haystack" but oh you come across interesting things regardless. And it is a safe enviroment to come in contact with realities you wouldn't dare try in real.
Also for some unfortunate people SL is the only way to experience/live "life" as they don't have the chance in real life because of physical or psychological problems. Which pretty much made me realize how silly of healthy me to be addicted and spend hours on such a thing when I could do much more in real life.

One development team even made and released (for free) a huge I am Legend game, about a year before the films release. It was a huge success and really showed what a versatile platform second life can be, more than just a "chat program"

I added you yesterday!
Would love to get together with other kitties & owners! *pokes her Master*

I missed your post, I did not know about darklife, how do I play it when logged on?
Mine isn't very good right now, and I'm saving up for some ears and a tail, but her name is Demi Huntress and here's a pic of her. If you see me, feel free to add me! ^.^ I love having friends! ^.^
I hang around on SL under the name Felis Darwin. (As in the next evolution of cat) Just a warning though, I'm not always able to be outfitted in kitty clothes. A lot of the time my SL Mistress has me attired in... well... very freaky things. Fun for both of us though, I assure you. ^_^
