Well, kitten is the proper term for a baby cat, while kitty is more of a slang. We refer to kittens as "kitty-cats" with children a lot.

I like both.
To me, "kitty" is more playful.
While "kitten" is softer and more cuddly.

Go with Kätzchen then ;)

Or Katzchen as Kurt Wagner would say.

Yes, he wanted to call me that before, but I kind of declined. I prefer kitty, or pet.

I kind of like DaddysTouch distinction, that's also a bit how it feels to me.

I say 'kitteh', meaning a neko as opposed to a cat-kitty.

kitten is maybe for a slightly more "innocent" one, though I suppose "kitty" is pretty much like that too. I think of "kitty" as slang for kitten or a cat, as "kitty" is a bit more vague.

People also refer to cats as "kittens" sometimes, though. Hehe...I dont think it really matters.

I believe when he thinks of the word 'neko' he associates it with kitty people, like in anime, as opposed to an actual cat. Anime's the reason people associate 'neko' with kitty people. It's a vicious cycle, lol.

My Master tends to call me Kitty, cat, or fluffy (sometimes fuzzball and other cat like names) when he's in an affectionate mood...but when he turns serious, it's Kitten.  :)

I'm keen on using all of the names... cat, kitten, kitty, high princess fuzzbutt. You name it, and I will use it in reference to a person or a small fuzzy kitty.

The only distinction that I make is the previous one. Whenever I'm referring to the four-legged type of cat, I tend to call it "the small kitty" or "little cat".
