just keep your mind open. with my master, he prefers dogs to cats. i think he's really embarrassed about it too, me wanting to be more feline. he refuses to let me wear my collar out of the house, even though i would really like to.

but if you're new to everything, maybe take some time to figure out what it is you want. =)

I think you need to tell him exactly what you just said.
You need to tell him all of your needs, in fact.
You need to tell him all of your wants as well (but don't expect that you'll get them all, or any for that matter ;) )

You also need him to talk to you about what he needs and wants and do your best to give him all of it.

If you both communicate with each other about all of this, then he will have a better chance to do what needs to be done so that you are both well taken care of. After all, your relationship is his responsibility now, but he can't do it without 100% honesty and communication on both your parts.

- It's a new one I've only been able to glance through as of yet.  Yes, it is mostly about puppies and their owners, and Yes, it is from the homosexual perspective but it gives you a good starting point.  Plus there's a story at the end to kinda set the scene for you.  Would rate it but I haven't read it yet

My ex-dom helped to train me through literature (and a little hands on too, though as a slave, not a pet) and I LOVE the books they usually have on decent bdsm sites (try JT's Stockroom-great for weirdness or BDSM Toybox-pretty good for leather EVERYTHING even though leather isn't that hard to master, ex-dom taught me ::smug ::).  These are only two of the fifty or so I own, so it just depends on how you learn. 

Kink conventions are also some great places to go for classes and one-on-one training.  One of my friends (veteran puppy, veteran handler, pony) says there's one which is ALL about pet play.  The play is COVERED in gear and full of classes and experienced pets and owners.  Plus the club near me has a pet night every week.  Maybe one near you will be so special :: evil smile ::  YAY ok I'm done...
