Falling asleep with your collar on
Permalink Closed

Hi I'm not shure about somethin but I'm shure you guys can help me.

I often wear a collar and sometimes there's a chain leash attached to it. Might sound a little ridiculous but Is there a significant hazard of "accidently" choking myself and lose consciousness? Do some of you often sleep with a collar and attached leash? Looking foreward to hearing from you.

I wear my collar to bed very often, except when I'm not feeling well; though I've never had the leash still attached to it. I guess if it were me, I'd probably get tangled up in it real fast, so I would be concerned about strangling myself. But my Owner would probably remove the leash part if he noticed I was getting all tied up unintentionally.
The safe bet would be to just make sure the leash is off before climbing into bed, especially if you're sleeping alone.

OK thank you very much. Because I don't have an owner yet, I think I'm just going to take off the leash as soon as i hop into bed. As you said, you just get tangled up in it to fast...

Hmm, I guess it depends on how much you tend to "thrash around" when you sleep.

Before I met Master I sometimes slept with a leash on, I don't now, but I do wear my collar to bed every night.  (It is a steel collar, and I can't take it off...)  What type of leash is it?  I used to wear a metal leash to bed, I never strangled myself.  I imagine if you move around a lot, or wore a nylon leash (which isn't heavy..) you might have an easier time of strangling yourself accidentally.  With a heavier leash I think that it would be possible, but not likely.  Good luck either way!

Heh. My parents instilled choking-while-sleeping paranoia in me at a young age. I never sleep with anything around my neck. I even take off bracelets and watches because...presumably they're going to migrate up my body in my sleep and kill me. (My watch is presumably also a sentient being).

I guess, though, I can't really see any harm in sleeping with a collar, but I AM a pretty thrashy sleeper and I'd get worried about accidentally catching a leash on my foot or something and strangling *myself* O_O

*wonders away, paranoidly*

Perhaps your watch is a Decepticon and when you're sleeping, it'll transform and run up and choke you.

xD look out killer watches around!

I have the same problem as you do janet. I as well have a parental preinstalled paranoia. aww

Unfortunately I have no idea how much I move while sleeping... It was a chain leash so the risk was "relatively" high but I'm just going to sleep without from now on... No big deal xD

Weeeelll...tip! If you wake up with your mattress halfway off your box spring, and your comforter turned around 180 degrees and half the contents of your night table on the floor and your stuffed animals pitched against the wall...you are a thrashy sleeper.

At least, that's how I tell, anyway :D

I often do the collar with leash thing, firstly, don't worry about accidentally choking yourself, your body will wake you up if your choke even a little, i assure you!
Secondly here are some sfatey tips

When sleeping with the collar on, wear it more loose than you normally might, (i.e putting it down a few notches) that way it gives to extra space to breath.
Make sure the leash length from the pole or end of bed or whatever is very long. The longer it is, the less change you'll have of pulled suspension.
Always make sure you have some garden cutters nearby incase of an emergency where you need it off in seconds ;p
(the garden cutter thing is good for all bondage situations )

I sleep with my collar on, the only time I take it off is when I'm getting in the bath. I don't sleep with my leash on because that's at Master's house and we only use it when we is doing "stuffs" I do sleep with my ears and tail on though =^.^=

I always wear my collar, except when washing.
Then again sometimes I forget to remove my collar before taking a shower, lol!

While playing, Master & I noticed that it's very easy for the leash to get tangled up so we firmly avoid having me on a leash too long.

though she has fallen asleep with her collar on before, i always take it off her to relive her during sleep, her asma might pop-up if her breathing is happened even minimally and i'd prefer to avoid that.

that said, i've left her leashed a time or two to the bed, and she would fall asleep, but never for a full night. if ever we find a proper "sleeping" collar (preferably 1" in less thick and padded with soft leather) then i might allow her to sleep with a collar and leash.
